Tackling Crime

A year ago I launched the codeword scheme "Ask For ANI". Now over 50% of all pharmacies across the UK, including Boots, Superdrug and Lincolnshire Co-op Pharmacy have joined the scheme.

In its first year, the scheme has provided emergency support to at least 100 victims.

The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill passed through the UK House of Commons yesterday, delivering on our promises to take measures to make our society safer and to crack down on crime.

The aim of the Safer Streets Fund is to stop offenses that blight communities and cause untold suffering to victims from happening in the first place. 

THE DOMESTIC ABUSE BILL HAS PASSED!!!

Yesterday, I visited Boots to launch our new 'Ask for Ani' scheme.

Domestic abuse has no place in our society. It is a crime that is usually hidden behind closed doors but its repercussions can be felt far and wide in society, including skewing the understanding of love and healthy relationships of children affected by domestic abuse. 

Home should be a place of safety and of love, but for 2 million people it is not. Domestic abuse takes place behind closed doors, turning people’s homes into places of fear, abuse and violence.

Victoria Atkins, Member of Parliament for Louth & Horncastle and Minister for Crime, Safeguarding and Vulnerability, last week introduced landmark legislation to transform the legal response to Domestic Abuse.

For two weeks, between June 10 and June 23, Citizens Advice Bureau will run their Scam Awareness Campaign, encouraging people to take action to spot, report and protect themselves against scams. 

Louth and Horncastle's Member of Parliament, and Minister for Crime, Safeguarding and Vulnerability, Victoria Atkins, visited Lancashire Constabulary in South Ribble, to discuss crime policing and innovation.
