Today, the Electricity System Operator (ESO) has published its ‘Beyond 2030’ report. The report makes a set of recommendations for offshore and onshore network upgrades to facilitate the connection of an extra 21GW of offshore wind alongside other low carbon generation sites across Britain.
Last week I attended a meeting with the Horncastle branch of the NFU (National Farmers' Union). I met more than twenty local farmers and NFU representatives.
On 1st March 2024 I held a Flood Forum in Horncastle. It was incredibly useful to bring together a hundred constituents, representatives from the Environment Agency, our local councils, Internal Drainage Boards and Anglian Water.
I am hosting a Flood Forum for constituents affected or concerned by recent flooding in our area. There will be an opportunity to hear from and ask questions to representatives from the Environment Agency, Internal Drainage Boards and local council.
I am deeply troubled by the National Grid’s proposals to build electricity pylons in our constituency. I have expressed these concerns emphatically to National Grid representatives and I will be conveying constituents’ views on this proposal throughout this consultation.
Last week I held two community events at The Hub in Horncastle.
I hosted a Community Summit last Friday morning to bring together representatives from more than fifty local organisations that work to support people in our community.
My thoughts are with all those affected by the awful flooding in recent days, and I would like to thank everyone who has helped - from councillors, emergency workers, the drainage boards and charities to good neighbours looking after each other.
