After I joined other Conservative MPs in writing to Lloyds Banking Group earlier this month to express our concerns, I am delighted to hear they have changed course.
Soon, local Post Offices and Banking Hubs will be able to accept Lloyds cheque deposits.
This matters because older, vulnerable and digitally excluded residents, as well as small businesses, charities and community groups, still rely on cheques.
They should not be forced to struggle with an app, send cheques through the post, or travel miles when a local service can be made available.
While the Post Office still needs to agree to a few final commercial terms, this remains a significant step forward for banking in our community.
