As the conflict in Iran drives energy prices to new heights, farmers are battling ballooning costs for fuel, fertiliser and energy. To make matters worse, hauliers are passing rising fuel costs directly onto farmers.
While other nations provide relief to their farmers, this Labour Government is making things harder by proposing to hike fuel duty.
These extra costs put the future of British farming at risk – and when it’s harder to produce food at home, we compromise our national food security and become increasingly reliant on volatile global markets.
We also discussed the immense threat bovine TB poses to our area and I will be looking into their suggestions for how to improve the situation.
Farmer’s resilience is being seriously tested, yet Labour is failing the people who work hardest to feed us.
