It was good to catch up with Stuart and Joe from Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance in Parliament this week.
Between March and April, aviation fuel prices increased by almost 70%. In a typical year, the charity uses close to 170,000 litres of fuel, meaning this rise could add approx. £77,000 to the annual fuel bill. Moreover, May was the busiest month on record for LNAA.
If increased activity continues and fuel prices remain elevated, this will further drive up the cost of maintaining these vital operations.
I have written to the Government asking them to urgently look into this as this service is absolutely critical for rural areas like ours.
Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance are also actively fundraising to secure a second, faster helicopter to help them deliver more life-saving care.
