We are making progress on our campaign to get dental school in Lincolnshire, with the University of Lincoln now in a position to offer dental places from 2027. This is great news but we need the Government to act and listen to our calls to provide the University with an allocation of dental school places in the upcoming workforce plan.
That is why I have joined several other Lincolnshire MPs in writing to the Health Secretary today asking him to back dentistry training in Lincolnshire. A dental school would start to increase dental provision even while students are training, and we know that students are more likely to stay where they train.
This builds on the long-term work that Lincolnshire's Conservative MPs have been doing on increasing medical training in our county. We secured the medical school in Lincoln, with the first students graduating in 2024, and now we are working to secure a dental school.
