'A Taste of Louth & Horncastle'

Victoria, hosted food and drink producers from across the constituency at an event in Parliament to showcase their award-winning food and drink.

The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, George Eustice MP, visited exhibitors to taste the produce and speak with local business-owners. 

Over 250 Members of Parliament, Lords, Doorkeepers and staff attended throughout the day. The Leader of East Lindsey District Council, Craig Leyland along with representatives from Lincolnshire County Council, local media and the NFU also joined the parliamentarians at the event.

Attendees had the chance to sample delicious local produce from Bottomley's Pin Gin, Lincolnshire Poacher Cheese, R.J Hirst Butchers, Skidbrooke Cyder, Fairburn’s Eggs, the British Pea & Bean Growers Association and Lincolnshire Plum Bread from Modens Bakery.

Local celebrity chef, Rachel Green, made pea frittatas using Fairburn’s new British Blue Eggs, locally-grown peas and Lincolnshire Poacher Cheese.  Rachel spoke passionately about the high quality foods produced in Lincolnshire and the traditional recipes that are exported across the world today.

“The food and drink produced in Louth & Horncastle is second to none and I wanted to celebrate this on a national stage by hosting a day in Parliament.

The event was a great success and it was fantastic to see MPs, Lords and house staff trying Lincolnshire specialities like stuffed chine and plum bread for the first time. 

I’m immensely proud of what we have to offer here in Louth & Horncastle and I will continue to speak up for local businesses wherever I can.”
