Speaking up on Crime in Rural Areas

Friday, 8 June, 2018

I opened the debate on Rural Crime & Public Services speaking from my own experience as MP for one of the largest rural constituencies in England.

Organised criminals do not respect constituency or county boundaries - hare coursers, fly-tippers, equipment thieves, county lines gangs and human traffickers can have a devastating impact on those living and working in more isolated areas.

Our PCC Marc Jones and Lincolnshire Police have found innovative ways to tackle the particular challenges of policing a large, sparsely populated area, including use of drone technology to help hare coursing investigations and find missing people.

Follow this link to see the full debate, including contributions from my Lincolnshire colleagues - the best-represented county at the debate!

Tackling Crime

I will back our police by supporting measures to equip our officers with the powers and tools they need to keep themselves and all of us safe. I will lobby for more support  to tackle rural crime and press for measures to tackle violence against women and girls.
