New steps to ending misleading broadband adverts

Victoria Atkins speaking on misleading Broadband speed adverts

It's fantastic to see yesterday's Budget included steps to end misleading broadband speed adverts.

Earlier this year Victoria raised the issue in a Westminster Hall debate, highlighting how her constituents are often paying for superfast speeds that they cannot currently achieve. To watch the full debate click here.

Internet service providers will no longer be able to advertise based on the speeds that only 10% of customers actually receive. Adverts will now have to reflect average rather than 'up to' speeds with speed-checking facilities available to more accurately test the service for your postcode.
